MSC Cruises adds new routes to Miami in the Caribbean

May 12, 2024

MSC Cruises will launch five new itineraries in the Caribbean that will depart from Miami for the winter season 2024-2025.

The luxury cruise line, based in Switzerland, which will open a new headquarters in Miami next year, announced that it will expand its offerings at PortMiami with the addition of the MSC Divina and MSC Seaside ships, in addition to the MSC Seascape.

The winter trips from MSC will be a mix of routes from three to ten nights, with all itineraries including a stop at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the cruise line's private island located in the Bimini district of the Bahamas.

"With three exceptional ships and an expanded selection of itineraries in Miami, we are providing travelers more opportunities than ever to explore the Caribbean," commented Lynn Torrent, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of MSC Cruises USA.

The MSC Divina, with a capacity for 4,345 passengers and built in 2012, will operate three and four-night cruises to Ocean Cay and Nassau, along with select 10 and 14-night trips to destinations such as Jamaica, Aruba, Curacao, and the Dominican Republic.

On the other hand, the MSC Seaside, with a capacity of 5,334 passengers, will operate seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, with stops in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Honduras, and Belize. The eight-year-old ship will depart every Sunday.

The MSC Seascape, one of the newest ships in the fleet, will continue to set sail on Saturdays on seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The two-year-old ship will stop at Ocean Cay, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands.

Neil Palomba, Executive Vice President of Operations at MSC, stated that the company has expanded its itineraries to offer cruises that serve as "quick getaways" or "extended vacations."

MSC expects to debut its new flagship, the MSC World America, in April 2025 at its new terminal in PortMiami. The four-story building will be able to accommodate three cruise ships simultaneously and 36,000 passengers daily.

The cruise line also announced plans to launch three new ships between 2025 and 2027.

MSC Cruises is building a $350 million terminal at PortMiami.

MSC’s new office, which will cost $100 million, is under construction in Overtown at Block 55 of Sawyer's Walk, a mixed-use complex located at 249 N.W. Sixth St. The 130,000 square-foot office will house MSC Cruises, MSC Cargo, and MSC Explora Journeys.

MSC Cruises operates a global fleet of 22 ships and sails itineraries across five continents, with stops at more than 300 destinations.
